Earth Day Festival 2009
Tucson's 15th Annual Earth Day Festival will be held on Saturday, April
4, 2009 at Reid Park off Country Club north of 22nd Street from 9 am to
3 pm. The theme of the event is "All Species Deserve a Green Habitat"
and will include hands-on activities, an alternative fuel vehicle show,
a solar competition and a parade. The theme of the event encourages
parade participants to dress up as plants, animals, insects, etc. This,
along with our environmentally themed floats and entries, leads to a
unique and colorful parade.
This festival continues to be the most popular Earth Day event in
Tucson. We estimate in 2008 there were 5,000 attendees and close to 70
exhibitors teaching children about the environment and providing
information on many environmental programs and products. Nearly 300
participants including children, families, schools and environmental
organizations walked in the parade, promoting various environmental
themes.
