This month our luncheon speaker will be Zoe Richmond, Director of Public Affairs, for Union Pacific. As a Public Affairs Director for Arizona and New Mexico, she deals with various rail transportation issues ranging from major infrastructure projects to legislative bills to community requests. Previously, she worked as director of media, acting as a spokeswoman for the company. Ms. Richmond also represented Union Pacific during major incidents, such as derailments. Nearly a quarter of U.S. chemical product shipments travel by rail, destined to perhaps generate energy, produce food and disinfect drinking water. SAEMS members should expect to hear about Union Pacific's environmental and safety efforts in rail transportation. Rail is reportedly the safest and most environmentally friendly way to move goods. Technological advances in recent years keep a focus on safety and efficiency that makes the US freight rail network the envy of the world. |
