This is an introduction to electromagnetic energy (EME), including an overview of historical, technical, and health-related aspects of this extraordinarily prevalent technology.
Richard Murphy has overseen of the Electromagnetic Energy (EME) program at Raytheon Missile Systems in Tucson for the last 8 years. He enjoys helping other Environmental, Health & Safety professionals understand EME, especially when they grew up with more of a chemistry than a physics background. At Raytheon he leads an EME Learning Group. He has worked at Raytheon for 16 years, primarily in the area of Industrial Hygiene. Prior to Raytheon, he worked for Honeywell in Tucson for 14 years in Industrial Hygiene, Safety & Environmental. He is a certified Industrial Hygienist, Safety Professional, Hazardous Materials Manager, and Laser Safety Officer. In addition to being fascinated with electromagnetic energy, He enjoys exploring alternative technologies with his wife, Carol, in the areas of automobiles and sustainable housing.
